Quests in life

Every adult life could be said to be defined by two great love stories.

The first - the story of our quest for sexual love - is well known and well charted.

Its vagaries form the staple of music and literature, it is socially accepted and celebrated.

The second - the story of our quest for love from the world - is a more secret and shameful tale.

If mentioned, it tends to be in caustic, mocking terms, as something of interest chiefly to envious or deficient souls, or else the drive for status is interpreted in an economic sense alone.

And yet this second love story is no less intense than the first, it is no less complicated, important or universal, and its setbacks are no less painful.

There is heartbreak here too, suggested by the distant, resigned eyes of many whom the world has elected to dismiss as nobodies.

In the world out there, everyone strives.

To be Someone. Somebody. Or Something.

An idol. A figure. A hero.

A father who sets an example. A counseller that shows guidance. A teacher that inculcates.

In life.

We journey through these 2 quests.

Like a personal RPG (Role-playing game).

Trying to learn, grow and believe that we are someone. Or we can be that special someone.

Our 2 quests will carry on the day till we give up, till we give up hope.

Till we finally acknowledge we have completed both our quests.

We know life, has finally found the meaning.

And the answer that we have been eternally searching for.

For some, it will be satisfying and fruitful.

For some, it will be a neverending journey as their desire and demand is insatiable.

For those out there who are able to read this.

I bestow my blessing to you.

May you accomplish your quests in life.
